Just wanted to do a little update on what is happening around here.
Matt's sister and her 7 kids have moved out and are in their own house just a half mile up the road. That is a good thing. I have my house back to myself and am in the process of trying to clean it all up again to make it look like it did before they arrived here. It's a lot of work, let me tell you!
Brytni has started the 4th grade. Which is really hard for me to believe. She is growing up so fast! She is now curling her hair every morn and wearing more of the "girly" clothes she ever has before. Major kudos to Anabelle 2 oldest daughters. We are keeping on top of Brytni a lot about her school work. Since we don't want a repeat of last year and all of the stress that she put me through. We are not going to allow her to slack on bit. She has already told me that 4th grade is much harder but much more fun. I told her LAST year that each school year gets harder and harder. She didn't believe me until she started the 4th grade.
Jayde will be starting kindergarten on the 2nd of Sept. HOLY WOW!!! YEP you read me correctly! KINDERGARTEN!!!!! She is excited to start, but we have found that she is really lazy when it comes to learning certain things. She practically refuses to learn her alphabet, much to our dismay. Today is her kindergarten assesment with her teacher and I am afraid she is going to be one of those children that sets the class back. Of course she is like any 5 year old and can't sit still unless it's a movie. I have to constantly work with her on getting her to sit still while I drill her on her abc's. All I have to say is I don't know how kindergarten teachers do it, but they are AMAZING in my eyes!!!
Ashlyn gets more and more devilishly crazy every day. She talks a TON. I can't begin to tell you what she says. Matt has taught her some words that I don't care for her say and is OBSESSED with them. She has learned words like, holy cow, oh gosh!, what the heck and many more. Her favorite right now is, "Daddy home!" She will run up to our HUGE front window and stand on the window sill and look for matt. She gets really excited when she see's him either pull into the driveway, or walk past the window. Most of the time he isn't home, but that never bothers her. She is a MAJOR mama's girl. She will bypass Matt to get to me when she is hurt, or when she wants something, or whenever she feels like it. She always wants me to hold her and I it drives me INSANE!!! I'm not used to having a mama's girl. They have usually been daddy's girls. Since Brytni started school Ashlyn and Jayde play a lot together and they get along very well. Jayde plays house or school with her and Ashlyn tags along and does mostly whatever Jayde tells her to do. While playing outside she will come up to the sliding glass window and yell through it, "Him mom! Look at me!" Then she will turn around and yell, "Jaydie, look at me!!! MOM!" Oh and another of her favorite phrases that she started while Chris and Anabelle were here was "Mom said no!" Oh my! It makes me laugh every time. Her vocabulary is expanding on a regular basis. I too am trying to be a better parent with Ash and teaching her her abc's (which she refuses to go past abcd no matter how hard I try), and what they look like. I don't want a repeat of Jayde.
Matt is still working his tail end off for us here at home. Things have gotten much tighter since Anabelle and fam have/were here. Their situation is an odd one right now and help from them will not happen for a while. They are still trying to get back up on their feet. Matt is learning some new things about the market right now and has learned many ways of helping families in this down time of need. It is amazing what you can do to chalk yourself up in the down market and not lose any money. Now don't quote me on that. I don't want to get in trouble for it. Of course there are never any guarantees, but there are products out that do give you a guarantee!!! Now that's SWEET! The big ceo of the office wants him to get his series 6 and 63 here soon. That's a lot of money to front, but Matt is the only one in the office right now that he wants to get securities licensed. Matt is excited for that, yet still very nervous about all at the same time. We are still trying to set up our business name and such and gets him more and more excited every day.
Myself?... Well as you can tell with 3 kids I am already busy, but I started making things for one of my very best friends, Jennifer Nichole Jenson Valente. She was married at the begging of June (which I missed much to my dismay) and is having a reception here in Utah in Bountiful on the 30th. I will be making a 3 teir cake. Double layer each layer. One chocolate, one white, with raspberry filling and covered with MM (marshmallow) fondant. I am making all of the frosting (Buttercreme to be exact) and all of the MM fondant myself. I bought all of the rest of the supplies yesterday and started the fondant making process. I made 5 1/2 pounds of mm fondant last night in 2 hours. I didn't think that was too bad. After this wedding is over I will be cleaning up house a lot more to have it apraised. Since the fall of the market and the crash of all of the susidary lending the market has tightened up their stuff and we are having a hard time refinancing. Our payment sky rocket on the house in June and it's hard to pay so much more each month. Needless to say we have/are still jumping through hoops to get the refinance to go through. It will make life so much more easier on us. That and fixing up things around the house will be nice. As you can tell I have slowly started that process already. This school year will be challenging for me. Having 2 kids in school and making sure that I keep them on top of their school work knowing the "flighty" skills they have. Which I don't like.
Ok there is an update for now.

Jasmine I don't know if you've heard of the cartoons Supper Why and Word World, but they have been wonders for Mellie! They're on PBS in the morning and they teach the kids letters and spelling in a way that they enjoy. Melody knows all of her letters by sight and is starting to write them and can sing her ABC's and I credit that largely to the cartoons. She gets really into them and tries to copy what they say when they are naming letters. Anyway give them a watch and see what you think! Good Luck!
