Update on Dad's Knee

I just wanted to update everyone on how Dad, Darrel, Grandpa, Uncle Darrel, is doing. It is amazing the big difference this surgery has made for him and the family. He gets up and down and moves along so much better than I have seen him move around in YEARS!!! It is so great to see.

I think we counted at least 48+ staples that were in his knee and small incisions on his leg. The scar as you can see is healing just nicely and it's nice and pink so you know it's not infected or dry. He takes great care of it.

He just got his release papers from his dr. As of October 1st he is allowed to drive bus again. That is a great feat for him, and only having had the surgery 4 weeks ago!!!! Thank you dr. for changing my father's life! Plus thank you Medicare and my dad's health insurance for helping to make this happen in his life. He's been waiting years for this and now the rewards of waiting for Medicare to kick in has paid off. He has so far lost 20 pounds after having the surgery and his dr is happy about that. His range of motion that the physical therapist wanted was just a few degrees off but she said that when he pushes it he gets those few degrees just fine. He no longer gets physical therapy at home. He will continue some PT for a little while at a local PT facility.

Just a small update on Mom, Judy. She has been having some heart issues. Her heat isn't beating in sync with each other and is causing her to have shortness of breath real easily. She has had a few tests done. Nothing has been found other than the her heat not beating in sync. She has made an appt to have a scope go in and see how her heart is beating. I think this is a last resort as none of the other tests have showed anything as to why this is happening. We continue to worry for her and pray that all is going to be ok. I think this is a point in her life that the Lord is telling her that she needs to start taking care of herself better and forces my father to start eating healthy also. Cause if things don't change soon... well I'm just not going to say it. Just keep her in your prayers!
