Anniversary

On October 30th was the 1 year anniversary of Matt's father's death. It has been a difficult year with him being gone. There were many times where we just wished we could go see him. So we did. To his grave that is. We try on a regular basis to stop by and say hi. Matt handles it well, but I have a tendency to get teary eyed. We decided to do something special for this day. I went and bought a vase and some flowers. Along the way we found this really awsome balloon that attached to the vase that said I love you and we took it to the grave site and spent some time there.


After we got to the grave site I decided to write "We Love You" on the vase in permanent marker and have all of write our names on it. The plan was to come back and get the vase and return on a regualr basis with flowers in it. (We did get the vase back, but a few days later Ash got a hold of it and broke it. :( )



Before we left to the grave site I had the girls sit down at the table and make grandpa a card. Jayde spent the enitre way down to the grave site making hers. I love that her and grandpa are holding hands in this pic. I'm sure he just loved it. We placed each card under the vase for him.



Then we have Brytni's. Oh! Her's made me cry just reading it and the perfect picture that she made for him. She has turned into the best artist lately. She has a talent for it I can tell. She was always close with Matt's dad.



Here is our hot air balloon with our vase of flowers and the girls cards. Ash forgot hers at home so the next time we go she'll give it to him.

I do have one funny thing to tell you. We kept walking across where the grass still hasn't quite meshed with the rest of the grass yet, and the girls kept telling us not to stand on Grandpa. I thought it was rather sweet and cute that they thought of it that way.



We were at the site alone before everyone else got there. I propped my camera up and used my timer and got a pic of us all at the site. We need remembrance photos like that of this time and place. All for good memories of course.
